Car pool, anyone?

Ask anyone in Bangalore about Bangalore and the first thing you hear is a well practiced rant. More often than not, the rant is about the traffic and pollution. I’m sure the rant is the same in any major metropolis.

With the rising prices of petrol/diesel, I think the time is ripe for an automobile manufacturer to extol the virtues of a ‘car pool’. It makes the brand look socially responsible, if you ask me.

CSR is fine so long as it does not directly hit the top and bottom lines which a regular car pool will.

Probably what is stopping the idea is the (relative) lack of social cohesion in Bangalore. You may find it easier to make a car pool in Chennai, Mumbai or Calcutta, abnd I dare say even in Delhi. Bangalore hasnt jelled together well enough in my opinion. Probably because there are far too many recent migrants. That is why the complaint against infrastructure is much more muted among the professionals in Chennai. Because most are locals.

Bangalore may take more time to start sharing things. Whether it will be too late by then I dont know
